The College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan is the postgraduate medical college, which was established under act of parliament in 1961. This college is running on the same pattern of Royal Colleges of England and Ireland. The main objective of the establishment of the CPSP, is to maintain high principles of medical profession, promotion of specialist medical practice and arrangement for the medical training at the postgraduate levels in the hospitals. This is the only one medical institute, which is granting education at postgraduate level and developed its effective and consistent up-gradation of medical education and training. The education is given to the students in about 73 specialties and sub specialties and MCPS is being conducted in about 22 specialties. The college gives training to the students at the postgraduate level in accredited/recognized hospitals across the country and also manages the exams in the relevant disciplines. The college has maintained four committees so that they can work for expansion and progress of college and it encourages the qualitative education for associated teachers, advisory services, supervisors, monitor and evaluate the training.
